The vast depths of the ocean hold countless stories that continue to astonish scientists even today. As peaceful as the world appears, it is equally mysterious. Within this mysterious world, some creatures are found that, despite having no brain, have survived for thousands of years and maintained their existence. It may sound strange, but many sea creatures like sponges, jellyfish, and starfish live fully active lives even without a developed brain.
How do they survive without a brain? :-
Scientists say that the bodies of these creatures do not function like those of humans or other animals. For example, sea sponges are considered among the most ancient creatures on Earth. They have neither a brain nor a heart, yet they survive for long periods of time. Sponges filter water through tiny pores in their bodies, obtaining food and oxygen from it. Their bodies function like a network of cells, carrying out essential processes without any central control.
These creatures can rejuvenate :-
Jellyfish are no less than a marvel in this regard. They lack a traditional brain, but rather a simple network of nerves that helps them swim, catch prey, and sense danger. This is why they successfully survive in the ocean even without a brain. Interestingly, some jellyfish species are called "immortal jellyfish" because they can reverse their life cycle and return to youth.
These creatures can regrow their limbs :-
Starfish also belong to this category. They lack a central brain, but they possess a complex nervous system that helps them navigate and find food. The most surprising thing is that if any part of a starfish is cut off, it can regenerate, allowing it to continue living.
A brain is not necessary :-
Scientists who study marine life believe that these creatures are proof that a brain is not always necessary for life. Nature has evolved each creature differently according to its environment. This is why these unique creatures living in the depths of the ocean remain a major subject of research and curiosity for scientists even today.
