A Bird That Drinks Only Rain Water

There are a total of 5000 million birds living on earth, in which many species are extremely rare. There are many of these birds which are known all over the world for their specialty.  Water is very important for every living being on earth to survive. Some animals survive by drinking only small amounts of water, but we all need water. But there is a bird on this earth, knowing about which you will be surprised.

This particular bird keeps on suffering from thirst, but does not drink water from the river or pond. Along with this, even if you give it to drink water in any vessel, it does not drink. You must be thinking which water does this bird drink, because without drinking water, no one can survive. Let us know what is the name of this special bird and what water it drinks.

Actually the bird we are talking about does not drink water from lake, pond or river. You will be surprised to know that this bird drinks only rain water. When it rains, it quenches its thirst. The name of this special bird is Chatak (Jacobin cuckoo). It is thirsty at times, but it does not drink any more water. It only drinks rain water.

It is said that if the Chatak is thirsty and throws it in a lake full of water, it does not open its beak in the water. This bird is very self-respecting in this matter. Chatak bird is found only in the continent of Asia and Africa. It is found majorly in the state of Uttarakhand, India.

It is said that this bird keeps its gaze in the sky for most of the time. It only drinks water from the rain that falls in Swati Nakshatra. People in Garhwal of Uttarakhand call this bird as Choli while in Marwari it is called Maghwa and Papiya.
