A Journey from Despair to Success

"When a 34-year-old man lost everything in life, his business collapsed, and he became indebted, he hid his face from all his friends from whom he had borrowed money, ran away to another city, and sat exhausted in a garden. He cried and sobbed profusely, and sat with his head on his knees.

Just then, a 74-year-old man came to him and asked why he was so disappointed. The 34-year-old man recounted his ordeal. When the old man told him his name was Richard Smith, the 34-year-old was shocked because Richard Smith was the richest man in that country, and high-ranking politicians bowed before him.

Richard Smith asked him how much debt he had. The man told him his debt. Then Richard Smith took a bank check from his pocket, filled it with four times the amount of his debt, and gave it to him, saying, "Before using this check, make one more attempt. If you still fail, use this one."  Take it. But don't look at this check until you're unsuccessful. Keep it with you.

Richard Smith then told him, "There's no need to return the money."

The 34-year-old man said, "Give me your address, and I'll come to thank you."

Richard Smith replied, "I come to this same park every day at this time. You can meet me there."

The 34-year-old man returned to his city, kept the check, and said to himself, "I'll give it one last try before I use it."

He continued, gradually succeeded, and exactly five years later, he became the most successful businessman in his city.

Now the man wanted to thank Richard Smith, so he took the check and went to the same park in the same city. He waited for an hour, but Richard Smith didn't come.

As he was leaving, he saw Richard Smith talking to someone in the other corner of the park. The man eavesdropped and listened.

Richard Smith was also issuing a check to the other man when four men ran in and forcibly grabbed Richard Smith and tried to take him away. The man, who had become a successful businessman, ran out and tried to free him. The four men told the man, "This is not Richard Smith. He's a madman who runs into this garden every day with a diary containing patient names from the hospital and tells everyone, 'I'm Richard Smith. Take this check. Take this check.' This is not Richard Smith. This is our patient who has been insane for 20 years."

When the 34-year-old man reached into his coat pocket and pulled out the check, he discovered it wasn't a check, but a slip used for writing patient names.

The man's fake paper filled him with so much hope that he relied on it, and before using it, he made one last attempt and succeeded.
