Once upon a time, there was a wealthy king who had four wives.
He loved his fourth wife the most and dressed her in the finest clothes and fed her the finest dishes.
He gave her nothing but the best.
He also loved his third wife very much and always showed her off to neighboring kingdoms.
However, he feared that one day she would leave him for another.
He loved his second wife as well.
She was his confidante and was always kind, considerate, and patient with him.
Whenever the king faced a problem, he could rely on her, and she helped him through difficult times.
The king's first wife was a very loyal companion and contributed greatly to maintaining his wealth and kingdom.
However, he did not love his first wife.
Although she loved him deeply, she rarely paid him any attention!
One day the king fell ill and knew his time was short.
He thought about his luxurious life and thought, "I have four wives now, but when I die, I will be alone."
Thus, he asked the fourth wife, "I have loved you the most, given you the finest clothes, and taken great care of you.
Now that I am dying, will you follow me and be with me?"
"Absolutely not!" the wife replied, and she left without another word.
Her answer pierced him like a sharp knife straight through his heart.
The grieving king then asked the third wife, "I have loved you all my life.
Now that I am dying, will you follow me and be with me?"
"No!" the third wife replied.
"Life is so good!
When you die, I'm going to remarry!"
His heart sank and grew cold.
Then he asked his second wife, "I've always come to you for help, and you've always been there for me.
When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?"
"I'm sorry, I can't help you this time!" the second wife replied.
"But too much, I can only send you to your grave."
Her answer came like lightning, and the king was devastated.
Just then a voice was heard: "I will walk with you and follow you wherever you go."
The king looked up, and there was his first wife.
She was so thin that she suffered from malnutrition and neglect.
Deeply saddened, the king said, "I should have taken better care of you when I had the chance!"
In truth, we all have four wives in our lives:Our fourth wife is our body.
No matter how much time and effort we put into making it look good, it will leave us when we die.
Our third wife is our possessions, status, and wealth.
All of this will go to others when we die.
Our second wife is our family and friends.
No matter how much they have been there for us, they will stay away from us until the grave.
And our first wife is our soul.
Often neglected in the pursuit of wealth, power, and worldly pleasures.
