The Thread of Hope

There was a king. One day, he became angry with his minister and imprisoned him on top of a huge tower.

In a way, it was a very painful death sentence. No one could bring him food, and there was no possibility of his escaping by jumping from that sky-high tower.

As he was captured and taken to the tower, people noticed that he was not at all worried or sad; on the contrary, he was as joyful and happy as ever. His wife bid him farewell with tears and asked, "Why are you so happy?"

He said, "If even a very thin thread of silk could be delivered to me, I would be free. Can't you even do such a simple task?"

His wife thought hard, but could not think of a way to deliver a thin thread of silk to such a high tower. So she asked a fakir.  The fakir said, "Catch a beetle. Tie a silk thread to its leg. Place a drop of honey on its mustache hair and release it from the tower, facing the top."

That very night, this was done. The beetle, sensing the scent of honey, slowly climbed upwards, eager to reach it. Finally, it completed its journey. One end of the silk thread reached the prisoner's hand. This thin silk thread became its salvation and life. A thread of cotton was tied to it and sent up, then a rope was made from the thread, and from the rope, a thicker rope. With that rope, it escaped its captivity.

A single ray of light is enough to reach the sun. That ray doesn't have to be delivered to anyone. Everyone has it.
