Winter was approaching. Cool breezes rustled the branches of the trees, and a light layer of clouds hung over the sky. A small bird lived in an old mango tree on the edge of the village. Her nest had been there for many years. For years, she had lived there, hummed, and nurtured her young. But now, her nest had become old and worn. The straws were beginning to fall apart, and the cold wind blew through it.
The bird thought, "It's time to build a new, sturdy nest so I won't have any trouble during the winter." The next morning, she flew to the fields. She began collecting dry straw, soft grass, and thin twigs from the fields. She worked tirelessly from morning until evening. With diligence and dedication, she created a beautiful and sturdy nest.
When the nest was complete, the bird examined every corner of it with joy. She felt proud of her hard work. But when she looked at her old nest, a strange feeling surged in her heart. The place where she had made so many memories—raised her children, hummed—wasn't easy for her to leave. So she thought, "Let's spend tonight in the old nest, and tomorrow morning I'll go to the new one."
That night was very peaceful. The bird fell into a deep sleep. But the next morning, when she flew back to her new nest, she was heartbroken. Her beautiful new nest was in ruins. Straws were scattered everywhere. It seemed another bird had destroyed it out of jealousy or greed. Tears welled up in her eyes. She had worked so hard, but it was all in vain.
For a few moments, she sat quietly, sadly wondering what she had done wrong. Then she took a deep breath, wiped her tears, and said to herself, "Maybe this is my test. If I'm really strong, I won't give up." And she flew back to the same field.
There, she began gathering straws again. Fatigue, disappointment, and sadness were all left behind. She worked all day, and by evening, she had built a new, even more beautiful and stronger nest. Seeing it, the bird smiled—this time, her smile was filled with satisfaction, pride, and a new understanding.
This small incident taught a big lesson. When our hard work goes to waste, most of us start complaining—blaming others, crying, and getting angry. But true courage is what keeps a person from breaking down. The bird didn't complain, didn't seek revenge. She focused her energy on the only way to make up for her loss—in hard work, in starting over.
Friends, it's natural to feel sad when something bad happens to us. But if we spend all our time and energy complaining or seeking revenge, we lose sight of our true purpose. Life is short, and to achieve big things, we must keep moving forward. Sometimes it's wise to ignore things and get back to work.
Like the bird, if we learn to rise after every fall, no difficulty can stop us for long. Ultimately, the one who knows how to rebuild after every breakdown is the true winner.
Lesson : - True strength lies in the person who doesn't give up in the face of circumstances, but instead learns to fly again, even after every fall.
