There was a businessman—wealth, prestige, and respect. His business was doing very well, he had a long line of servants, and the house was lavish with luxury. Yet, one night, he tossed and turned in bed, sleep far from his eyes.
The wife noticed lines of worry on her husband's face. She asked, "What's the matter? Is there any loss in business?"
The businessman initially avoided the question, but when she insisted, he said, "Don't ask. If you listen, you'll lose your peace of mind too."
The wife still didn't agree. Then the businessman said, "Yesterday, I thought, what would happen if my entire business were to close? I calculated—everything would run smoothly for nine generations, but after that... nothing!" What will our descendants eat then? I'm worried about this."
The wife smiled and said, "Okay, tomorrow we'll go to a saint. He will tell us the solution."
The next day they reached the saint's ashram. His wife was placing food and fruits as gifts. The merchant interrupted, "Why this? I didn't calculate it yesterday."
The wife said, "Take it today, we won't go there every day." And they both reached the ashram.
The wife tried to offer a gift, but the saint stopped her. He asked his disciple, "Go inside and see if there's any food left for today."
The disciple returned and said, "Gurudev, there's food for tonight, but nothing for tomorrow."
The saint smiled, "Then there's no need for a gift. God has provided everything for today; Thakurji will take care of tomorrow."
The merchant was stunned. He said softly to his wife, "Well, now I've found the answer to my question."
The wife said, "But you didn't even ask your question."
The merchant smiled and said, "There's no need now. Saints who don't worry about tomorrow, I was worrying about nine generations ahead. The real problem isn't money, it's a lack of faith in God."
The saint, listening, said, "Son, will the one who has given you everything till date forget you tomorrow? When trust is deep, there is no fear in life, only peace."
That day, for the first time, the merchant truly found the "wealth of faith." Returning, his mind was light and his face was calm. He realized that "whatever one has is enough," and that one who has faith has the happiness of the entire world.
