The Power of Belief: A Story of Fear and Sacrifice

Rama had been worried since morning. She kept insisting that the Panditji who lived in the neighborhood should be called; she had to ask him something. Everyone in the house was worried about what was going on, but Rama refused to listen.

After some time, the Panditji was called. When he arrived, Rama started crying. He asked, "What's the matter? Why are you crying?"

Rama replied tearfully, "This morning I had such a dream that my heart sank. I don't know what to do."

"What did you see, Amma ji?"

"I saw my husband. He was in a very bad condition."

"And."

"His face was completely dirty. His clothes were torn. He looked very sad. Ever since I had that dream, my heart has been filled with fear. Oh God, what has happened to my husband?"

"He was saying something."

"No."

"Hmm!  Seeing a deceased soul in a dream early in the morning is not considered auspicious, especially in such a situation. It's a matter of concern."

"What's the solution?"

"There is a solution, but it's a bit expensive."

"I'll do whatever you say. But please tell me the solution."

"A puja will have to be performed. Five Brahmins will have to be given alms, fed, and clothes and utensils will have to be donated."

"When will it have to be done?"

"As soon as possible so that the departed soul can find peace. They are hungry and thirsty and in a very distressed state, that's why you saw them. And you know how badly the situation in the house deteriorates if the ancestors are not happy. They have to be appeased."

"Whatever you think is right. I'll talk to my sons and let you know. And we have to do all this soon."

"Okay." Saying this, the Pandit ji left for his home.  Rama spoke to her sons from behind, "The priest said that doing all this will rectify the inauspicious situation in the house."

"Amma, what nonsense are you talking about? Nothing like this happens."

"Oh, it's just a dream. Morning dreams do come true."

"Amma! You're just out of money. You never feed a poor person. And now, for no reason, you're ready to spend a lakh or a lakh and a half on a dream. You know, things aren't going well for both of us brothers right now. Where will we find such a huge expense?"

"I don't know. Do it from anywhere. But this puja will have to be done."

"Amma, it's not right to be so stubborn. How can we do it? If it's important, I'll understand."

Hearing this, Rama started crying.

"I have a house right now. Otherwise, you wouldn't even ask me. I know everything about your service."  You're doing everything for the sake of the house.

"Amma, where are you taking this matter?"

"I will. I'll take it wherever you want. And you'll have to listen. If you can't listen, then get out of here."

"Okay, Amma. As you wish. We've been ruined by fulfilling your superstitions. But you haven't changed. Enough is enough. We're leaving here. Congratulations on your house. Stay alone in this house with your superstitions."

Rama didn't stop her children. She thought they were serving her because of the house. They couldn't leave her anywhere. But today it's been a month since Rama's children left. I don't know about Bhaur's dream, but yes, because of this dream and superstition, Rama is definitely left alone today.
