The Miracle of the Dead Snake

Long ago, a man lived in a small town. He was absolutely lazy. He would sit at home all day, doing nothing. He believed he could have everything without effort. His wife would tell him every day, "Do some work, we're short on money at home." But it never had any effect on him.

Every day, there was a quarrel between the husband and wife. The wife would taunt him, "All the neighbors go to work—some work, some are hired, but you just sit around!" The man would say, "Everything happens by God's will. When the time comes, work will come."

One day, the quarrel escalated to the point where the wife said, "If you still don't go to work, I'll go to my parents' house and never return!" Hearing this, the man realized the situation had become serious. That day, for the first time, he decided to go look for work.

In the morning, he got up, got ready, and set out in search of work. But because he had never worked, no one offered him work. Someone said, "You can work as a laborer." He replied, "I've never carried a load." Someone said, "Work at a shop." He replied, "I don't know how to do accounting."

The whole day passed, the sun was about to set, but he couldn't find work. Hungry, thirsty, and exhausted, he started back home in despair. On the way, he kept thinking, "If I go home now, my wife will quarrel with me again. She'll say, 'You can't do anything.'"

Just then, he saw a dead snake lying on the side of the road. Suddenly, a strange thought came to his mind. He said, "Okay, so be it. I'll take something home today." He picked up a stick, hung the dead snake on it, and reached home.

When he knocked on the door, his wife opened it. When he showed her the snake, she was terrified, "What have you brought?"  The man said, "Look, I worked hard today, and this is its reward." The wife didn't say anything, but simply said, "Come, have your dinner."

After feeding him, she sneaked outside, took the snake out with a stick, and threw it onto the roof of the house. Then she prayed to God, "Lord, my husband has worked hard for the first time today. However small, please reward him for it."

The next morning, something amazing happened. A scorpion was crawling across the roof, holding a diamond necklace in its mouth. As soon as it reached the snake, it dropped the necklace and flew away, clutching the snake in its mouth. The necklace remained on the roof.

A little while later, when the wife went up to the roof to dry clothes, she saw a sparkling diamond necklace lying there. She was overjoyed, thanked God, and went downstairs to tell her husband, "Look, God has rewarded your hard work! The dead snake has become a diamond necklace."

The husband was stunned to hear this.  He thought to himself, "If such a small effort can yield such great results, then who knows how great a success I will achieve if I work hard with a true heart."

He didn't keep the necklace, but sold it and started a small business with the money. Gradually, through honesty and hard work, he became so successful that he became a prominent businessman in the city.

Moral : -

The essence of this story is that hard work is the true path to success.

There are no shortcuts. If we strive with a true heart, even God is with us.

Remember...

"The person who runs away from hard work loses life too. And the one who embraces hard work can change even his destiny."
