The King’s Quest for Water: A Tale of Courage and Beauty

A long time ago, a king ruled in Durgapur. The king's name was Ajay Singh. Ajay Singh was a very pious and brave king. He had only one daughter, whose name was Sonalika. Princess Sonalika was barely thirteen-fourteen years old.

But the news of her beauty had spread far and wide. King Ajay Singh loved her more than his life. The princess also loved her father dearly.

One day, the king went hunting in the forest with his soldiers. The king had four bodyguards with him, who were equipped with all kinds of weapons.

The king was wandering for hunting till afternoon, but he did not find a single prey. The tired king got down from his horse and started resting by lying down in the shade of a banyan tree. He tied his horse to the root of the tree there.

"Rajveer - I want cold water." - said the king addressing one of his bodyguards.

"Take it now, Maharaj." - he said and then took his horse and headed towards the forest in search of water.

The king along with his three followers waited for a long time for Rajveer to come, but Rajveer did not come. Not knowing what was the matter, the king and his soldiers became worried about Rajveer.

As time passed, this worry kept increasing. On the other hand, the intense rays of the sun were burning every particle. The king's throat was getting dry due to thirst. The three soldiers were looking at the king helplessly.

Then the king said - "You three go from here immediately and search for water for me. Also find out about Rajveer as to why he has not returned yet."

"But it is necessary that at least one person stays with you, Maharaj -!" - one of them said.

The king replied bluntly - "No, you people are here to protect me and at this time I need water for my protection. So, arrange water for me as soon as possible and also search for Rajveer."

"As you wish, Maharaj." - After getting the order from the king, all three of them said in one voice and then sat on their horses and set out in search of water and their companions.

For about two hours, the king kept waiting for his soldiers to return, but when none of them returned, the king became worried. First of all, worry, secondly the scorching sun, the king's throat started drying due to thirst.

After losing, the king also stood up. Now first of all he had to search for water himself, there was no use in sitting idle like this.

The king got up and untied his horse tied to the tree and sat on it and went in one direction. The king kept wandering here and there sitting on his horse for a long time, but he neither found water nor his soldiers.

But still the king did not lose courage. Despite being disappointed again and again, he started his work with double enthusiasm. The direction in which he was moving was very dense forest. At some places he had to get down from the horse and make a path himself. The king kept moving forward. Suddenly he had to get down from the horse again, because the branches of the trees were blocking the path ahead. The king got down and took out his sword and started making a path by cutting them.

Then the king saw a cave under those bushes. The door of the cave was quite big. The king got curious. He quickly moved towards the door of the cave. The cave was quite long. The king kept moving forward holding the rope of his horse. The king saw that there was dampness on the floor of the cave. Perhaps there would be a water reservoir ahead. The king thought and he started moving forward quickly. After walking a little distance, that cave turned into a long and wide field.  There was a small reservoir in the middle of the field. The king's eyes lit up. He licked his dry lips and moved towards the reservoir with rapid steps.

The king was fascinated by the beauty of the reservoir, but one thing was bothering him that despite so much beauty, there was complete silence there. Not a single bird was visible around that reservoir.

But the king did not have time to think about this. His throat was getting dry due to excessive thirst. The king quickly started descending the steps of the reservoir. Reaching near the water, the king washed his hands and face and started drinking water.
