YouTube Strikes Explained: How to Protect Your Channel from Deletion

If you are also a creator or are thinking of making your career as a YouTube creator, then this news is useful for you. Today we will tell you about YouTube's three-warning rule and also tell you the ways to appeal. First of all, let us tell you that YouTube's three strike rule policy applies to those creators who violate YouTube's copyright and community guidelines. Repeated mistakes can lead to serious consequences for the creator. Even the channel can be deleted.

What is YouTube's three-warning system : -

YouTube works on a system of three strikes in a rolling window of 90 days-

First warning : - Video uploads, live streaming and some features are banned for one week. This strike remains active for 90 days.

Second warning : - If a second strike is received within 90 days, the restrictions increase for two weeks.

Third warning : - If a third strike is received within the same 90 days, the channel is permanently removed and all content is deleted. Other channels linked to it may also be affected.

Note : - Deleting the offending video does not end the strike.

What causes strikes : -

Copyright strike : - If you use someone else's content (such as a song, video clip, etc.) without permission, the copyright holder can report it, which can lead to the video being removed and a strike.

Community guidelines strike : - Violating YouTube policies, such as posting misleading, harmful, or offensive content — first a warning is given, then strikes are given.

What happens when you get a strike : - If you receive a strike, you will be notified via email (and mobile or desktop notifications if enabled) about what content was removed, what policy was violated, how the channel will be affected, what to do next, and an appeal option.

How to challenge a strike : -

If you think a strike was in error, you can appeal it by : -

Appeal : - You can appeal both copyright and Community Guidelines strikes through YouTube Studio. If the appeal is accepted, the strike is removed.

Submit a counter-notice (copyright strikes only) : -  If you think your video falls under fair use or was removed in error, you can submit a legal counter-notification. If the copyright holder doesn't take court action within 10 business days, the video may be reinstated.

Request a retraction : - You can contact the copyright holder and request a retraction. If they agree, the strike may be removed.

Wait 90 days : - If you don't make a new mistake for 90 days, the strike automatically expires.
