A merchant while roaming in the market saw a fine breed camel.
There was a long bargain between the merchant and the camel seller and finally the merchant bought the camel and brought it home.
On reaching home, the merchant asked his servant to remove the saddle of the camel i.e. the seat to sit on. Under the seat, the servant found a small velvet bag which on opening was found to be full of precious diamonds and jewels.
The servant shouted, "Master, you bought the camel, but look, what came with it for free."
The merchant was also surprised, he saw diamonds in the hands of his servant which were shining and twinkling in the sunlight. The merchant said: "I have bought a camel, not diamonds, I should return it immediately.
The servant was thinking in his mind that how stupid my master is...!
The servant said: "Master, no one will know."
But, the merchant did not listen to him and he immediately reached the market and returned the velvet bag to the shopkeeper.
The camel seller was very happy, he said, "I had forgotten that I had hidden my precious stones under the seat.
Now you can choose any one diamond as a reward."
The merchant said, "I have paid the right price for the camel, so I do not need any thanks or reward."
The more the merchant kept on refusing, the more the camel seller insisted. Finally the merchant said smilingly: Actually when I decided to bring back the bag, I had already kept the two most valuable diamonds from it with me. Hearing this, the camel seller got angry and emptied the bag to count his diamonds and jewels.
But he said in great surprise, "All my diamonds are complete, so which two most valuable diamonds did you keep?"
The merchant said: ... "My integrity and my self-respect."
We have to look inside ourselves to see who among us has these two diamonds. Those who have these two diamonds are the richest people in the world.
