Color Changing Fish

Many types of creatures are found on the earth.  Many of these creatures are very strange and unique. Chameleon is such an organism, which changes its color many times, but now scientists have discovered a unique fish. The most surprising thing is that even after death the fish can change its color according to its environment.

Scientists have discovered a fish named Hogfish in their new study. This fish is known as Lachnolaimus maximus. This fish changes its color according to the environment even after death, which is its biggest feature. This fish lives in the rocks of the sea. This fish is commonly found in the Atlantic Ocean from North Carolina to Brazil. Perhaps the fish do this to protect themselves from enemies and to signal to their mate.

Scientists were most surprised that the unique fish changes its color even after death. A new research has been published in the journal Nature Communications. According to the research, the experts determined the effect of light on different parts of the fish using microscopy.

Scientists believe that light receptors called SWS1 on the underside of the chromatophore that give skin color may play a role in this process. According to the researchers, the receptors give feedback to the fish about where and how changes are taking place in different parts of their skin.

According to the researchers, like the eyes, the skin of these creatures is sensitive to light.  Although scientists have clearly said that it does not work for the eye. With the help of this research, experts have found out about the development, habitat and other behaviors of hogfish fish. Along with this, also understood about the ability to make rapid changes.

Researchers say that many such creatures are found in the sea which have the ability to change their color. This helps them manage temperature changes, attract mates, and hide.  Researchers from the University of North Carolina in the US say that cells in the fish's body, called chromatophores, contain pigments, crystals or small reflective plates. These plates enable the fish to change colour.
