Respect Of Women

An old lady was standing on a road in Mumbai (India). He had a bundle. At that time Mumbai was called Bombay. The woman was asking for help from the people coming and going that someone should pick up that bundle and put it on her head.

No one was ready to help the woman. After some time a very rich looking gentleman was passing by. The old lady also tried to ask for help from that rich man, but because of fear she did not say anything.

The gentleman understood that this old lady wanted to say something, but was unable to say it. When the gentleman asked the old lady, she said, 'Someone should put this bundle on my head, I have made this request to many people, but no one helped me.  I'm too scared to tell you.

'Till then the gentleman bowed down and picked up the bundle and placed it on the old lady's head.  Many people were stopping and looking at these two.  People had recognized that gentleman that he was not an ordinary person, but Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade.

Ranade ji said to the people, 'First thing is that she is a woman and secondly she is also an old woman. Women are superior to men because they have the capacity to create. They have a uterus, where they bear beautiful burdens and produce offspring. We must help them.

'Hearing these things, the necks of the people standing there went down. It was the same Govind Ranade ji, who did a lot of work on widow remarriage and women's education. This incident is about 130 years old. Ranade ji's wife Ramabai was young and was less educated. He inspired Ramabai a lot to read.

After the death of Ranade ji, his wife Ramabai carried forward his works.

Moral  : -  Ranade ji has taught us that the distinction between men and women should end in the society. Women should be respected and looked at with respect.
