René Descarte was a French philosopher, mathematician and scientist. He spent 20 years of his life in the Dutch Republic. Earlier also served in the Dutch States Army.

• Reading every good book is like talking to the best minds of the old century.
• We don't mention what we see, we see what we can mention.  
• The only thing we have control over in the entire universe is our own thoughts.  
• Having a good mind is not enough, it is also necessary to use it.  
• Conquer yourself, not the world.    
• To find a solution to a problem, divide the problem into as many parts as necessary.  Doing so will lead to more solutions.
• Argument without imagination is nothing.  
• I only know that I know nothing.  
• You keep trying. Never stop trying. I've made every mistake I could. But despite this, I kept on trying.  
• Doubt breeds wisdom.  
• It is easy to hate someone, but it is difficult to love. The whole world revolves around these two things. Good things are hard to come by and bad habits are just as hard to leave.
• A person with positive thinking sees light even where there is no source of light. But know why a negative thinking person always runs to stop that light.
• Take yourself ahead. Keep yourself moving. Every person makes all kinds of mistakes in his life. It is very important to keep moving forward after every mistake.
