Shivon Zilis Opens Up About Sudden Breakup With Elon Musk

Elon Musk and Shivon Zilis, who share four children, have reportedly ended their romantic relationship. Zilis appeared to confirm the separation in an emotional post on October 2, saying the breakup happened suddenly and left her struggling to process the change.

In a message shared on X, Zilis reflected on how difficult it was to move from being deeply in love to letting go in such a short period. She said the situation had unfolded without warning but added that she still cared deeply about Musk and hoped he would find happiness.

Zilis also shared part of a recent private conversation between herself and Musk. The exchange appeared to show that the two were still affectionate toward each other shortly before the apparent breakup.

In the conversation, Zilis told Musk that she had enjoyed seeing him for breakfast and expressed her love for him. Musk replied that he loved her too. He later told her that he had not realized he could have invited her to a state dinner at the White House during Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent visit.

The messages were exchanged on September 24. Just a few days later, on September 27, Zilis posted a brief message on social media that read, “New day, new life,” which appeared to hint that she was entering a new chapter.

Zilis Reflects on Her Relationship With Musk

In her longer statement, Zilis spoke warmly about her years with Musk and described the emotional challenges he had experienced throughout his life.

She portrayed Musk as someone who had endured a difficult and turbulent early life and described him as a person who sometimes struggled internally. According to Zilis, she and their children offered him a place where he could step away from his demanding public life and regain emotional energy.

Zilis said she loved Musk deeply and credited him with profoundly influencing the way she viewed life. She described their relationship as an experience that gave her countless memories and a strong sense of purpose.

Despite the pain of the separation, Zilis focused on the family they created together. She said the biggest gift from their relationship was their four children, whom she described affectionately as the loves of her life.

Although she acknowledged that the breakup had brought significant loss, Zilis made clear that she continued to care about Musk. She ended her message by wishing him well and expressing her belief that the world benefits from his work.

Four Children Together

Musk and Zilis first became romantically involved around 2020. Their relationship eventually led to the birth of four children.

The couple welcomed twins, Strider and Azure, in 2021. They later had a daughter, Arcadia, in 2024, followed by their youngest child, Seldon, in 2025.

Their relationship has attracted considerable public attention because of Musk's large family and his highly public profile. Musk has children with multiple partners, including his first wife, Justine Wilson.

Musk and Wilson had five children who survived infancy: twins Vivian and Griffin, and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian. Their first child, Nevada Alexander, died at 10 weeks old.

The reported separation between Musk and Zilis adds another development to the billionaire's complicated personal life. As of the time of Zilis' public statement, Musk had not publicly addressed the breakup.

For Zilis, however, her message suggested that the focus now is on moving forward while continuing to co-parent their four children and maintain a caring relationship with Musk.

Her comments also indicated that, despite the sudden end to their romantic relationship, she remains grateful for the life and family they built together.
