Women's endurance is many times greater than men's. Men's endurance is negligible. But men always count on one strength: muscles. Because they can lift a large stone, they think they are powerful. But if a large stone were the only dimension of strength, that would be fine. Endurance is also a great strength—the ability to endure life's hardships.
Women stay young longer if they don't have to give birth to ten or fifteen children. Men age faster: women stay young and fresh longer.
Girls start speaking earlier. Intelligence manifests earlier in girls. Girls are more intelligent. Even in university competitions, girls excel.
Any woman who is aggressive is not attractive. If a woman pursues you and proposes love, you will panic and run away. Because that woman is behaving like a man, not a woman. The femininity of a woman, her sweetness, lies in her mere waiting.
She provokes you, but doesn't attack. She calls you, but doesn't shout. Her call is also very silent. She surrounds you from all sides, but you don't even notice. Her chains are so subtle, they're invisible. She binds you from all sides with very thin, subtle threads, but her bondage is nowhere to be seen.
A woman keeps herself low. People wrongly think that men have enslaved women. No, woman is the art of being a slave. But you don't know, her art is very important. And Lao Tzu is revealing that very art. No man enslaves another woman. Whenever a woman falls in love with a man, in any corner of the world, she immediately enslaves herself, because being a slave is a deep possession. She understands the secret of life.
A woman places herself at your feet, at your feet. And you have noticed that whenever a woman places herself at your feet, she suddenly sits on your head like a crown. She places herself at your feet, reaches very deep, very high. You start thinking about her twenty-four hours a day. She leaves herself at your feet, becomes your shadow. And before you even realize it, the shadow starts controlling you, you start moving at the shadow's command.
A woman never directly says, "Do this," but she gets whatever she wants done. She never says, "This should happen this way," but she gets things done as she wishes.
Lao Tzu is saying that her power is great. And what is her power? Because she is a slave. Her power is that she has become a shadow. Even the most powerful men fall in love with a woman and become completely powerless.
