A stranger came to a king's court seeking a job. The king asked him about his abilities. He replied, "Whether it's a man or an animal, I can tell by its appearance and habits."
The king was impressed by his words and appointed him in charge of his stables. A few days later, the king asked his opinion about his most expensive and beloved horse. He replied, "This horse is not a thoroughbred."
The king was astonished to hear this. He summoned the horse's former caretaker from the forest. He explained, "The horse is a thoroughbred, but its mother died at birth. It was fed cow's milk and grew up with cows."
The king asked his servant, "How do you know it's not a thoroughbred?"
The servant replied, "When it eats grass, it eats with its head down like cows, whereas a thoroughbred horse eats with its head held high, holding the grass in its mouth."
The king was very pleased with his assessment. As a reward, he sent grain, ghee, chickens, and eggs to his house and posted him in the queen's palace.
A few days later, the king asked him for his opinion about the queen. The servant said, "The queen has a royal demeanor, but she is not a queen by birth."
The king was shocked. He immediately called his mother-in-law and demanded to know the truth.
The mother-in-law said, "The truth is, our daughter was born before your marriage was finalized, but she died within six months. To maintain ties with the royal family, we raised someone else's daughter as our own."
The king then asked the servant, "How did you know this?"
The servant replied, "The queen is extremely harsh with her servants. A person of noble birth has a certain decency in her behavior, which is not visible in them."
The king was even more impressed by his understanding. He gave him more rewards—grain, sheep, and goats—and gave him a place in his court.
Some time later, the king called him again and asked about himself.
The servant said, "I will tell you everything only if you promise to protect my life."
The king gave his word.
The servant said, "You are neither the king's son nor do you behave like a king."
The king was angry, but he had already given his word. He went straight to his mother.
The mother told him the truth, "We had no children. You are the son of a shepherd, whom we adopted and raised."
The king called the servant again and asked, "How did you know this?"
He replied, "When kings give rewards, they give diamonds, pearls, and jewels. But you give grain, sheep, and food. This behavior is not that of a king, but of a shepherd's son."

How much wealth, happiness, position, and power a person possesses—these are all external appearances.
A person's true identity is revealed by their behavior and intentions.
