The Power of God Hanuman and the Road to Salvation

Hanumanji burns Ravana's golden city of Lanka to ashes and leaves. Ravana is powerless to do anything to him. He becomes perplexed, wondering where Hanuman got so much power from.

Distressed, he goes to the Shiva temple in the palace and begins praying to Shiva. Shiva appears pleased. Ravana, overwhelmed, falls at his feet.

Tell me, Dashanan, how are you?

You are omniscient, Mahadev. You know everything, Lord. A single monkey has burned my Lanka and my pride to ashes. I want to know who this monkey named Hanuman is. Lord, his tail was even more powerful. How did he so easily burn my Lanka? Tell me, who is this Hanuman?

Smiling, Shiva continues to listen to Ravana. Then, he tells Ravana that this Hanuman is none other than his own Rudra incarnation.

When Vishnu decided that he would incarnate on earth, Goddess Lakshmi would also descend with him.  So I desired to witness his divine acts. When I shared this with Parvati, she insisted that she would be with me. But I couldn't understand how to make her a partner in this divine act.

Then all the gods came together and suggested a way for me: You become a monkey, and Goddess Parvati, the embodiment of Shakti, will be with you as your tail. Only then can you both live together. Accordingly, I took birth as Hanuman and vowed to serve Lord Rama, and as a result of that service, Goddess Parvati, the embodiment of Shakti, will burn down Lanka.

Now listen, Ravana! The time for your salvation has come. Therefore, you will be saved by Lord Rama. You must be the last to appear for battle. So that your entire demon family may attain salvation at the hands of Lord Rama, and you all may be saved.

Ravana, aware of the entire situation, prepares for battle, sending his entire family to face Lord Rama first, and ultimately attaining salvation himself.
