One day, a powerful king rode his favorite horse for a stroll through the royal garden. He was accompanied by his clever, intelligent, and beloved minister. The minister was renowned throughout the kingdom for his eloquence, wisdom, and quick wit. The king enjoyed his company not only during state affairs but also during his private hours, as his talks entertained him and often provided new perspectives.
The royal garden was filled with lush greenery. Colorful flowers bloomed, and the chirping of birds enhanced the atmosphere. The king sat happily on his horse, enjoying the garden. Suddenly, his eyes fell on his horse, and a mischievous thought came to his mind.
The king smiled and said to the minister,"Minister, please bring us a green horse."
The minister was shocked to hear this. He knew full well that green horses did not exist anywhere in the world. The king often asked such strange and impossible questions to test his minister's intelligence. The minister remained silent for a moment, wondering what kind of test the king was conducting this time.
Seeing the minister's silence, the king transformed his words into an order. He said in a serious tone,"Minister! We give you seven days. Present a green horse to us within seven days. If you fail to do so, you will be relieved of your post."
The minister understood that the king was testing him. He had no choice but to obey. He bowed his head politely and said,"As you wish, Your Majesty."
Returning home, the minister pondered the problem for a while. Then, he smiled, as if he had found a solution. For the next six days, he remained at home, relaxing. He neither searched for the horse nor discussed the matter with anyone.
On the seventh day, the minister appeared in the royal court with full confidence. The king looked at them and said,"Tell me, minister, have you found a green horse?"
The minister replied with great respect,"Yes, Your Majesty, we have found a green horse."
The king was very pleased to hear this and said,"Then what are you waiting for? Bring it to us immediately."
The minister said calmly,"Your Majesty, the horse's owner has set two conditions for giving the horse."
The king asked curiously,"What conditions?"
The minister said,"The first condition is that you must go to the owner yourself to get the horse."
The king laughed and said,"What's the big deal in that? We are ready to go ourselves."
Then the minister said,"Your Majesty, please listen to the second condition as well."
"Tell me," the king said.
The minister smiled and said,"The second condition is that you can go to the horse's owner to collect it on any day except the seven days of the week."
Hearing this, the king was astonished and said,"What a strange and meaningless condition! There are no days left except the seven days of the week!"
The minister replied calmly and politely,"Your Majesty, when the task itself is impossible and meaningless, then the conditions must be the same."
The king understood the minister's wisdom. He laughed out loud and said,"Minister, you are truly very intelligent. It is certainly not easy to defeat you."
Thus, with his wisdom, the minister not only protected his position but also proved once again that with intelligence and cleverness, even seemingly impossible tasks can be handled intelligently.
