It was a long time ago. There was a dense and mysterious forest, which people called the "Silent Forest." During the day, this forest seemed normal, but as night fell, strange sounds would emanate from the forest. Someone would call out to someone, someone would cry, and sometimes laughter would be heard.
Any animal or human who ventured into this forest at night returned frightened... or never returned at all.
There was a small pond in the middle of the forest. Near it lived a wise jackal named Nirav. Nirav was very calm, but his eyes saw everything deeply. He made decisions based on thought, not fear.
One night, the forest was in a commotion.
The rabbits, deer, and birds all gathered in fear.
The deer spoke in a trembling voice,"Today again, someone called me by name... but there was no one there!"
The parrot said,"I heard someone crying... but I couldn't see anything in the darkness."
Everyone had the same question:
👉 Who makes these sounds?
Some animals believed there was a ghost in the forest.
Some said a cursed spirit resided there.
But Nirav the jackal was listening quietly.
He said,"If it's really a ghost, why does it come at the same time every night? And why do the sounds always come from near the pond?"
All the animals fell silent.
Nirav decided to uncover this mystery.
🌙 A Night of Mystery
The next night, when the entire forest was asleep, Nirav quietly moved towards the pond.
It was pitch dark all around. The moon was hidden behind the clouds.
Suddenly, a voice called out :"Nirav... Nirav..."
Nirav's heart began to beat faster, but he resisted the urge to let fear overcome him.
He said softly,"Whatever it is, come forward. I'm not afraid of the sound, but of the truth."
Just then, the wind began to blow.
The water in the pond began to stir.
And then... the sound of crying.
Nirav looked carefully.
He saw something shining in the bushes near the water.
He slowly moved forward.
🔍 The Truth Revealed
Nirav saw that an old owl was sitting behind the bushes.
Dry bamboos, hollow pieces of wood, and stones were lying near it.
When the wind hit those bamboos,
👉sometimes a sound like crying,
👉sometimes a sound like talking,
👉sometimes a sound like laughter.
Nirav understood.
The owl said,"I did all this on purpose. I'm alone. I was afraid that animals would come into my area and take away my house. That's why I scared everyone."
Nirav said calmly,
“Safety isn't achieved by spreading fear. It's achieved through wisdom and trust.”
The owl's eyes narrowed.
🌅The next morning,
Nirav summoned all the animals and revealed the truth.
Everyone was shocked to discover that what they thought was a ghost was nothing but fear and ignorance.
The owl apologized in front of everyone.
The deer said,“We believed in fear without thinking.”
The parrot said,“Voices don't come true; truth comes from seeing.”
After that day, the forest never heard mysterious sounds again.
“The Silent Forest” became known as “The Wise Forest.”
And Nirav the jackal was considered the wisest creature in the forest.
