Love: The True Wealth Beyond Materialism

Money can buy many things, but there are some things that money cannot buy—and those are the things that are truly valuable. What is truly valuable has no price; it is priceless. It cannot be bought; it is found by becoming worthy.

If you do not have love within you, life will inevitably become arid, desert-like. It will become a journey of constant disillusionment—from one disillusionment to another. And when you reach the end of life, you will be left with nothing but a sad story—

"...a tale told by a fool, full of noise and frenzy, meaningless."

People die utterly disillusioned. They die complaining against life. They cannot be expected to be grateful to existence; they cannot be expected to pray; they cannot feel any sense of thankfulness—because they have never known anything for which they can be grateful to existence. And all this is missed because they have missed love.

Love is eternal like grass.  Love is the only experience that transcends death. God has given you so much—intelligence, compassion, empathy, creativity, sensitivity, and so much more—but love is the only experience in which time disappears. Love is the experience in which you naturally enter into meditation. Love is the experience in which you have no fear of death.

Lovers are the only ones who can die joyfully—because they have known something, tasted something, caught a glimpse of nectar. They have tasted a little of immortality. In those few moments of love, windows open and they experience the beyond.

Desiderata speaks of a deep faith in love, so never doubt love. Doubt God—there's nothing wrong with that; doubt truth—there's nothing wrong with that; doubt everything else—but never doubt love. Because the moment you doubt love, you close all doors.  If you don't doubt love, sooner or later everything else will happen on its own.

Experienced love one day becomes prayer, and that prayer one day transforms into the experience of divinity.
