In the Mahabharata, Yudhishthira became king after defeating the Kauravas. Yudhishthira ruled for a long time. When he felt it was time to give up everything, he made Parikshit, Arjuna's grandson, Abhimanyu's son, king. After this, Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, Sahadeva, and Draupadi went to the forest.
Parikshit was ruling the kingdom according to the Dharma. One day, he met Kaliyuga. Parikshit became enraged after seeing Kaliyuga. Kaliyuga told the king, "Shri Krishna has returned to his abode. The Dwapar Yuga has ended, and now the Kaliyuga has begun. Therefore, my kingdom will rule."
Hearing this, Parikshit took out his weapons to kill him. Parikshit said, "Leave my kingdom." Then Kaliyuga said, "O King, where should I go? Even the Sun and Moon are within the reach of your arrows." I admit that I have many vices, but I also have one virtue: anyone who chants the name of God will not be affected by the effects of Kaliyuga. Please tell me a place to live here.
King Parikshit told Kaliyuga to reside in the places associated with falsehood, lust, anger, and pride. Parikshit then said, "O King, you have given me four places of your choice. Please give me one place of my choice. I also want to reside in gold." Parikshit allowed Kaliyuga to reside in gold as well.
One thing to understand here is that Kaliyuga does not reside in all types of gold, i.e., wealth. Kaliyuga resides only in wealth or gold earned through wrong means. Only those who earn such wealth are affected by Kaliyuga.
💐The Importance of Chanting in Kaliyuga
In Kaliyuga, those who chant the name of God with a true heart are destroyed by all their sins. That is why a person should chant the names of his/her favorite deity while performing religious activities.
