The Enigmatic Snake and the Kind Man

Dev was a kind man who loved nature. He always tried to help creatures big and small.

One morning, Dev heard a tiny, strange noise. It sounded like a faint, desperate scratching.

He looked closely at the ground. He saw a long, heavy wooden log!

“Help me, please! This log is too heavy!” cried the snake, Naga. Dev felt bad for the trapped creature.

Kind Dev used all his strength. He rolled the giant log away from the snake.

Naga slithered free, but then something changed. It stood tall, hood spread wide. “I am hungry now,” it hissed.

Dev gasped in shock. “Is this how you repay my kindness?” he protested.

Naga agreed to ask a judge: the wise old Banyan Tree. They walked together until they reached the ancient giant.

The Tree sighed deeply. “Humans often forget kindness,” it said sadly. “They are not always fair.”

Next, they went to see Ratan the Buffalo working in the field. They asked Ratan for his opinion.

Ratan said, “People use me for work, then forget me when I am old.” “Yes, people often forget kindness,” he agreed.

Suddenly, Jayan the clever Jackal bounded over! Jayan asked to see exactly how Naga had been trapped.

Naga, proud of its clever trick, quickly slipped back under the heavy log. It wanted to show everyone how stuck it was.

“Now, Dev,” whispered Jayan the Jackal, with a wink. “Roll the log back tight and save yourself!”

Dev did as he was told. He learned to be kind, but also very, very wise. Always think before you act!
