Naveen was struggling with his problems. He felt that he was the unhappiest person in the world. He thought that only he had so many troubles in his life.
He constantly complained to God that God had given him all the sorrows of the world and then, forgetting everything, had gone to sleep with cotton in his ears.
Naveen prayed to God day and night, sometimes blaming God, sometimes cursing himself. But God neither listened to his prayers nor his complaints. What could poor Naveen do? One problem wouldn't end before another one arose.
One day, before going to sleep, he prayed, "Lord, I am tired of telling you my troubles. I don't have the strength to beg anymore. I'm saying this one last time. Please listen to my prayer.
If you don't want to relieve my suffering, at least you can exchange my sorrows with someone whose life has fewer troubles than mine. If not forever, then at least for a few months. Let me also have some relief for a while."
Now, God finally heard Naveen's last wish, and that night, God appeared to him in a dream.
God said, "My child, I heard your prayers every day. But I was paying more attention to those who are suffering even more than you. Anyway, write down all your troubles in detail on a piece of paper, then make a bundle of it and hang it at the main intersection of the city."
Naveen woke up with a start. At first, he couldn't believe that God had actually appeared to him and said all these things. Then he thought, what's the harm in trying? Maybe this would lead to a solution.
Following God's instructions, he wrote down all his problems on separate pieces of paper. He wrote so many problems that a pile of papers accumulated, and he had to tie them into a bundle. Now Naveen picked up his bundle and reached the crossroads. But when he got there, he was astonished by the sight.
He saw that a long line of people had already formed at the crossroads, each carrying large bundles of their own sorrows, just like him. What was going on? Everything was beyond his comprehension.
He was still lost in these thoughts when a voice from the heavens spoke. It commanded everyone to hang their bundles on the different pegs at the crossroads.
There were countless pegs already there. Everyone hung their bundles and then waited for God's next command.
After a short while, the voice from the heavens spoke again, telling everyone to pick up a bundle that they thought was lighter than their own bundle of troubles. Now they would have to endure the sorrows contained in the new bundle they had chosen.
As soon as they heard the voice, everyone rushed to grab the lightest bundle they could find. Naveen also ran to choose a new bundle.
He stared at all the bundles hanging on the pegs for a long time, trying to guess which one to choose. He was also afraid that he might pick up a bundle that contained even more sorrow than his own. If that happened, his troubles would only increase, and he would be in even more trouble. His life would be completely ruined.
Now all sorts of thoughts began to flood his mind. He thought that at least he was familiar with his own sorrows. And he had become accustomed to bearing them. He had even started finding ways to cope with them, and perhaps, as a result, some of his sorrows might even lessen.
What if the new bundle he chose contained even more painful sorrows?
Lost in these thoughts, he passed by one bundle after another, but couldn't decide which one to choose. He was also afraid that someone might take his bundle. Caught in this dilemma, Naveen finally picked up his bundle and set off. He decided that he would now face these challenges with even greater strength.
Gradually, Naveen began to feel that his own suffering was less than that of others. And similar feelings were stirring in everyone present there.
Truly, everyone feels their own suffering is greater and more painful. They feel they are the most miserable person in the world. But there are countless others who are far more unhappy than us. There are so many people who barely manage to get two meals a day.
Sometimes, when passing by someone's magnificent mansion, the thought repeatedly crosses our mind: why was I left behind when luck was being distributed? If I had been ahead, I too would have received such happiness and prosperity.
Those who have courage and determination easily overcome life's difficulties and achieve success by sailing on the ship of self-confidence. Just think about those people who are teetering between life and death.
At least you were ahead of them in the line of fate. You are healthy, not dependent on anyone for your work. You are capable of doing your own work.
