From Beggar to Businessman

A beggar went to a farmer's house to beg.The farmer's wife was at home, having prepared gram flour bread.

The farmer came and kissed his children. The woman washed their hands and feet, and he sat down to eat.

The woman gave the beggar a handful of gram flour. The beggar took the flour and left.

On the way, he thought: "Do we even have a life? We spend all day begging like dogs, and then we have to make our own."

Look at this farmer, what a beautiful house he has. He has a wife and children. He grows his own food and eats with his children lovingly. This farmer is truly happy.

While eating bread, the farmer said to his wife:

"The blue bull is very old, and he doesn't work anymore. If I can arrange some money from somewhere, it will be enough for this year."

I will go to Sadhoram the moneylender; he will lend me money on interest."  After eating, he went to Sadhoram the moneylender. After much pleading, Sadhoram agreed to lend him the money at an interest rate of 1 rupee per hundred.

Sadhoram took out a bag from an iron safe, counted the money and gave it to the farmer.

The farmer took the money and headed home. On the way, he started thinking, "Am I any man? I don't even have 5 rupees in cash at home."  After much pleading, he gave the money.

Sadho is so rich, he has hundreds of rupees on him. "It's only Sadhoram who is truly happy."

Sadhoram used to run a small shop, buying clothes from a larger store and selling them.

The next day, Sadhoram went to buy clothes. He bought them from Seth Prithvi Chand's shop.

He was sitting there when several telegrams arrived, some from Bombay and some from Calcutta. Some said a profit of 5 lakhs, some a lakh.

Sadho the moneylender watched all this and took the clothes and left.

On the way, he thought, "Are we some people? A hundred or two hundred people have joined together and we're called moneylenders."

How is Prithvi Chand? A profit of lakhs in one day. "He's the one who's truly happy."

Prithvi Chand was sitting there when a telegram arrived saying there was a loss of 5 lakhs.  He was in deep worry when the servant said:

Today the Governor is having a party at Rai Bahadur Seth's place. You have to go. The car is ready." Prithvi Chand got on the car and went to Rai Bahadur's mansion.

There were chairs made of gold and silver. The Collector and Commissioner were shaking hands with Rai Bahadur. Many prominent businessmen were standing there.

Who would have asked Prithvi Chand Seth there? He also went and sat on a chair.

The Governor came, shook hands with Rai Bahadur, had tea with him, and left.

Prithvi Chand was returning in his car. On the way, he kept thinking, "I am also a businessman, I am scared of a loss of 5 lakh rupees. What a luxurious life Rai Bahadur has!" The Governor shook hands with him, "He is the one who is truly happy."

Now, after the Governor's departure, Rai Bahadur developed a headache. Senior doctors came and he was lying in a room.

Several telegrams had arrived at once, indicating losses. He was worried about them. He also remembered his business, and he was in deep anxiety. He looked out the window and saw a beggar walking happily with a stick in his hand.

Rai Bahadur looked at him and said, "This is the one who is truly happy. He neither worries about losses nor profits. He doesn't even have to host a party for the Governor. He is the one who is truly happy."

The point is, we consider each other happy. Only the one who has inner peace and tranquility and who is always connected to God knows who is truly happy.
