There lived a cunning fox in a forest. She was so clever that she would first befriend animals for food and then, upon finding an opportunity, kill them and feast on them. Because of this habit, everyone avoided her. One day, when she couldn't find food anywhere, she set off in search of prey. She spotted a healthy rooster, which was perched high on a tree. The fox looked at the rooster and thought, "What a big and healthy rooster! What a delicious meal I would get if I could get hold of it." The fox's greed had grown. She watched the rooster daily, but it remained perched high on the tree, eluding her.
After much thought, the fox realized she wouldn't be able to catch it that way, so she resorted to deceit and cunning. She went to the rooster and said, "Oh, my rooster! Did you hear that everyone in the forest has received good news?" The rooster replied, "What good news?" The fox said that there had been a divine voice, and God himself had said that from now on, all fights and quarrels in this forest would end. From today on, no animal would harm or kill another animal. Everyone would live happily together, helping one another. No one would attack anyone.
The rooster realized that the fox was lying, so he didn't pay much attention to his words and said, "That's good." Seeing the rooster's cold reaction, the fox said, "So, my brother, come on, come down, let's hug and congratulate each other and share our happiness."
The rooster had now understood the fox's trick, so he smiled and said, "Okay, but my fox sister, first hug and congratulate your friends who are running this way happily. I can see them from the tree."
The fox asked, surprised, "Brother rooster, which of my friends are you?" The rooster said, "Sister, those hunting dogs are our friends now, they're probably coming this way to congratulate you." Hearing the name of the hunting dogs, the fox began to tremble. She was terrified because she thought that if she stayed here even for a moment, the rooster might not become her prey, but she herself would surely become the prey of these hunting dogs. So, she thought it best to save her life and, without thinking twice, ran in the opposite direction.
The rooster laughed and said to the fleeing fox, "Sister, where are you running? We're all friends now, so why be afraid? Wait a while." The fox replied, "Brother, we are friends, but perhaps the hunting dogs haven't heard from us yet." Saying this, the fox disappeared from the scene.
Lesson : - With cleverness, vigilance, and prudence, you can easily escape danger without wavering. One should never blindly trust anyone or his sweet words, one should always be cautious and careful of cunning and clever people because such people are neither anyone's friends nor trustworthy, they think only about themselves and can kill anyone to fulfill their selfish motives.
