Once upon a time, there lived a great sage in a village. People would come to him with their difficulties, and the sage would guide them. One day, a man came to the sage and asked him a question. He asked the sage, "Gurudev, I want to know the secret to always being happy." The sage told him, "Come with me to the forest, and I will tell you the secret to happiness."
Saying this, the sage and the man started walking towards the forest. On the way, the sage picked up a large stone and told the man to hold it and walk. The man picked up the stone and walked with the sage towards the forest.
After some time, the man's hand started hurting, but he remained silent and continued walking. But when a long time had passed and the man could no longer bear the pain, he told the sage that he was in pain. So the sage said, "Put this stone down." The man felt great relief after putting the stone down.
Then the sage said, "This is the secret to happiness." The man said, "Gurudev, I don't understand."
Then the sage said,"Just as holding this stone in your hand for a minute causes a little pain, and holding it for an hour causes a little more pain, and if you keep holding it for even longer, the pain will increase, similarly, the longer you carry the burden of sorrows, the more unhappy and disappointed you will be. It depends on us whether we carry the burden of sorrows for a minute or for a lifetime. If you want to be happy, learn to put down the stone of sorrow as quickly as possible, and if possible, don't pick it up at all."
