In a lush city, a pigeon named Chiku lived on the roof of a tall building. Chiku was very beautiful. His wings were bright white and he flew very fast. He was very proud of his beauty and swift flight.
He often said to the other birds, "You can't fly like me. I'm different and the best."
The small birds in the park below would be saddened by his words, but they wouldn't say anything.
One day, a strong storm hit the city. Dark clouds covered the sky, and a strong wind blew. All the birds began to run around, looking for a safe place. Chiku thought, "I'm so strong, why should I be afraid of the storm?"
But as soon as he started flying, the strong wind knocked him off balance. He began to sway and hit the branch of a tall tree, falling down. His wings were injured, and he couldn't fly.
Just then, the same small birds from the park, whom Chiku used to make fun of, arrived. They helped Chiku together—some made shade with leaves, another brought water.
Tears welled up in Chiku's eyes. He said with embarrassment, "Forgive me. In my pride, I let you down. Today I understand that no one is the greatest alone."
The birds smiled and said, "Companionship and humility are true strengths."
In a few days, Chiku recovered. He was no longer as arrogant as before. He treated everyone with love and helped others when needed.
