A Fool's Journey to Wisdom

There was a fool in a village. He was very troubled because no matter what he said, people laughed; they had already accepted him as a fool. Even if he said something right, people laughed. He lived a life of solitude, not even speaking. If he didn't speak, people laughed; if he spoke, people laughed. If he did something, people laughed; if he didn't, people laughed.

A fakir came to that village. That night, the fool held the fakir's feet and said, "Give me some blessings. Will I spend my life shrunken like this? Will I die like a fool? Is there no way to gain some wisdom?"

The fakir said, "Take this formula and start criticizing."

He said, "What will criticizing do?" The fakir said, "Do it for seven days and then come back to me."

The fool asked, "What is the use of criticizing?" The fakir said.  No matter what anyone says, you should make a negative statement. For example, if someone says, "Look, how beautiful the sun is rising!" You ask, "What's beautiful about it?" Prove it. Where is it beautiful? What is beautiful? It rises every day, it has been rising for billions and trillions of years. It's a ball of fire. What is beautiful? If someone says, "Look, Jesus' words are so beautiful!" You should immediately jump to the conclusion, asking what's beautiful about it, what's special, what's new? It's always been said that everything is worn out, everything is stale, everything is borrowed.

You should just deny it. If someone sees a beautiful woman and says, "What's so beautiful about her?" What's the point in saying that? What's the harm if her nose gets longer, what's the harm if her complexion becomes whiter? Even lepers are white. Prove it. Ask everyone for proof, and remember to always remain in denial. Put them in the predicate. Stay in denial. Come back after seven days.

When the fool arrived seven days later, he wasn't alone; he had many disciples. He walked ahead, garlands of flowers around his neck, and musical instruments were playing. He told the fakir that his trick had worked! The village had fallen completely silent; wherever he went, people bowed their heads. The news had spread that he was a genius. No one could defeat him. What should he do next?

He said: "Don't do anything further now; just stick to this. If you want to save your intelligence, never get involved in the affirmative. If anyone mentions God, immediately declare your atheism. Whatever is said, always make a negative statement. No one will be able to defeat you; because it is very difficult to disprove a negative statement. It is even more difficult to prove a positive statement."

Accepting God requires great intelligence, a profound sensitivity, a highly conscious heart, and a heightened state of consciousness.  A little light is needed within. But to deny God, nothing is needed. There is no necessity to deny God. That is why people condemn in the world.
