The sun's gentle rays scattered across the village's unpaved roads. The smell of soil from the fields and the chirping of birds in the early morning serene atmosphere. Amit lived in the same village, a simple boy with big dreams. He was brilliant in his studies, quick-thinking, and unmatched in his hard work. He aspired to achieve great things in life, but there was one thing he always overlooked: simplicity.
Amit went to the city with dreams of becoming an engineer. The glitz, competition, and fast-paced life there made him even more aggressive. He tried everything to advance in his work, but gradually he became rude, irritable, and arrogant. He believed that simple and humble people didn't advance. He always spoke harshly, boasted of his accomplishments, and considered helping others a waste of time.
In a few years, he became a project manager at a large company. But as his position rose, so did his complex behavior. His teammates feared him, but they disliked working with him. He had everything—money, position, prestige—but lacked peace of mind and the affection of others.
One day, the company held a large meeting, inviting managers from all teams. Many people were gathered in the meeting hall. Here, Amit met Rahul, the new manager. Rahul greeted everyone with a smile, spoke with ease, and respected even those younger than him. His modesty and simplicity were palpable.
Rahul's team's performance was highly praised at the meeting. The company owner said, "Rahul's team is not only successful, but also happy. And a happy team produces good results."
A question arose in Amit's mind—what was it about Rahul?
He noticed that Rahul's simplicity was his greatest strength. He was easygoing, valued everyone, and offered solutions instead of punishment when mistakes were made.
After the meeting, Amit spoke with Rahul.
"How do you remain so easygoing? Why don't you feel arrogant even with such huge responsibilities?"
Rahul smiled, "Being simple isn't a weakness, Amit. It's the greatest strength. When the mind becomes simple, the world doesn't seem difficult. The difficulty lies in our ego."
Something inside Amit snapped. He felt the harshness of his behavior. He began to think that he had achieved success, but lost simplicity. And with the loss of simplicity, he had also lost relationships, respect, and peace of mind.
That very evening, Amit decided to change himself. He held a meeting with his team and said, "I treated you all harshly. I'm learning that simplicity is true success. Give me a chance to improve."
At first, people were hesitant, but gradually they noticed a change in Amit's behavior. Now he was helpful, spoke with patience, offered solutions instead of scolding for mistakes, and listened attentively to everyone.
After several months, the atmosphere in his team changed. People became happier, and their performance improved.
Most importantly, Amit also regained peace of mind.
One day, he realized, "It's easy to be successful in life, but being simple is the hardest and most beautiful thing."
His life had changed. Now he knew that simplicity is the fragrance that attracts others and brings inner satisfaction.
