Life and Death were both sitting under a tree.
Life was smiling and talking,but Death was lost in deep thought.
Life asked, "What happened? Why are you so quiet today?"
Death said softly, "People love you very much.
They welcome every moment of your life.
But they get scared at the mere mention of my name... Why is that?"
Life smiled and said, "Because I give them happiness, hope, and opportunity.
They live their dreams with me,spend time with their loved ones.
But as soon as you arrive, they feel that everything will be taken away from them."
Death said calmly, "But don't they know that my coming is necessary?
I free them from the pain and fatigue they experience in the final moments of their lives.
I am not the end... I am a new beginning."
Life took a deep breath and said, "You're right.
But people fear the unknown.
You lead them down a path from which no one returns.
That very unknown has kept them terrified."
Death asked softly, "So will they ever understand me?"
Life smiled, "Yes, when they understand that I am incomplete without you,and I am meaningless without you.
We are both two stages on the same journey."
