There lived a farmer in a village. The farmer was old, but his wife was young and vibrant. She always had her eyes on other men. One day, a thug saw the woman leaving the house alone and followed her.
When the woman reached a secluded spot, the thug approached her and said, "My wife has passed away, and I like you. Will you come with me?" The woman replied, "If so, I'm willing to come with you. My husband is old and unable to walk. He has a lot of money. I'll bring that money so we can have a happy future."
The thug said, "Okay, let's meet at the same place tomorrow morning and then we'll leave together."
The woman returned home and waited for her husband to sleep. When he fell asleep, she packed all the money and jewelry into a bundle and the next morning returned to the same place where she had met the thug.
They both began their journey from there. After walking a long distance from the village, they reached the bank of a deep river. The thug thought to himself, "If I take this woman with me, people will come looking for her, and I'll get into trouble. It's better to take her money and get rid of her."
He said to the woman, "The river is too deep. I can't take you and the luggage together. I'll take the luggage across first, then I'll carry you on my back."
The woman agreed and gave him the bundle of money. The thug said, "Give me your jewelry and heavy clothes too, so it'll be easier to cross the river the second time."
The woman did as the thug asked. The thug took all the luggage and crossed the river and never returned.
Because of his actions, the woman was left with nothing.
Moral : - Never take the wrong path for selfish reasons.
