It was a long time ago. There was a dense and vast forest. It was filled with a variety of trees, plants, vines, and bushes. Peace pervaded the surroundings, only the chirping of birds and the sounds of animals enlivened the atmosphere. On a high branch of one of those large trees, a tiny sparrow had built its nest. The sparrow lovingly cared for its eggs and flew around all day in search of food and water.
One day, the weather suddenly changed. Winter had arrived. By nightfall, the cold winds intensified, and every creature in the forest began to shiver. A group of monkeys also settled under the same tree. They were shivering badly from the cold and huddled close together to keep their bodies warm. One of the monkeys said through chattering teeth,
"Hey guys! This cold won't stop until it takes our lives. If we could find some fire, we'd all be saved."
Another monkey said, "Yes, there are plenty of dry leaves lying around here. Why don't we gather them and try to light a fire?"
All the monkeys liked this idea. They ran around collecting dry leaves and wood. In no time, a huge pile had formed. Now they were wondering how to light it.
Just then, one monkey suddenly spotted a bright firefly flying in the sky. His eyes lit up and he shouted, "Look, look! It's a spark floating in the air. If we catch it and place it under the leaves, a fire will ignite instantly."
The other monkeys believed him and all started running after the firefly.
A sparrow, watching all this from its nest atop a tree, felt pity for the monkeys' foolishness. It whispered, "Brother monkeys, this isn't a spark, it's just a tiny firefly. It won't light a fire. You need a real spark to light a fire."
But the monkeys ignored the sparrow. One monkey growled, "Shut up, you stupid bird! You don't need to teach us."
With that, they grabbed the firefly and placed it under a pile of leaves. Then, each monkey took turns blowing on the pile, as if the fire would ignite any moment.
The sparrow couldn't bear to see their foolishness. It tried to explain again, "Brothers, a firefly can't light a fire. You just strike two stones together; a spark will be produced, and that's what can start a fire."
But the monkeys didn't listen this time either. Instead, they grew even more irritated. One monkey said angrily, "Why should we learn from your wisdom? You should sit quietly in your nest, or the consequences will be dire."
The sparrow was concerned for their well-being. She patiently said for the third time, "If you want, you can light a fire by rubbing dry sticks together. You just need to work a little harder."
But now the monkeys' anger had reached its peak. They saw the sparrow's advice as the reason for their failure. In a fit of rage, one of the monkeys grabbed the sparrow and slammed it hard against the trunk of a tree. The poor little sparrow died there in agony.
The monkeys didn't realize their mistake. They shivered in the cold all night and left in the morning, disappointed.
Moral: - This story teaches us not to give advice unless it's asked. It's especially futile to try to reason with foolish people, because they don't understand and instead get angry and cause harm. Therefore, wisdom lies in using intelligence and knowledge at the right time and on the right person.
