The Clever Escape: A Tale of Friendship and Bravery

Once upon a time a crow named Laghupatanak lived on a huge tree.

A mouse named Hiranyak also lived in the cavity of the same tree.

A tortoise named Mandharak lived in a nearby lake. The crow, mouse and tortoise were good friends. One day a deer named Chitrang came running to them.

He was nervous and was breathing heavily.

The three friends came to know that the deer had run away to save his life from a hunter.

Hearing this, the crow went to the top of that tree and saw that the hunter was going in another direction.

Coming down, he said to the deer - "I have seen the hunter going back, so you don't need to run any more." The deer breathed a sigh of relief. He joined the group of those friends. Now every day they used to meet on the banks of that lake and talk for hours.

One day the deer did not come to the meeting place.

His friends got worried. The crow flew a little distance away and saw that his friend the deer was trapped in a hunter's snare.

The three friends immediately went there.

The mouse started cutting the snare with its sharp teeth.

Then the hunter came there.

By then the mouse had cut the snare, so the deer ran away fast. Along with him, the crow and the mouse also ran away fast. But the slow-moving tortoise got caught by the hunter.

Now it was the turn of the three friends to save the tortoise.

The deer fell asleep pretending as if it was dead.

They made a plan and started waiting for the hunter to come on the shore of the lake. The crow sat on his body and pretended as if it was taking out his eyes. Then the tortoise quickly jumped into the water, the deer and the mouse also ran away and the crow flew away.

Seeing this, the hunter put the tortoise down and went to the deer.

After this all four friends started living happily.
