The Gift of Perspective: Seeing Problems as Opportunities

A person was under stress for a long time due to which he was very irritable and angry. He was always worried about the fact that he had to bear all the expenses of the house, the responsibility of the whole family was on him, some or the other relative kept coming to his house everyday, he had to spend a lot etc.

Thinking about these things, he was often very worried, he often scolded his children and he also quarreled with his wife on some issue or the other. Time passed like this.

One day his son came to him and said... Father, please help me with my school homework. The person was already under stress, so he scolded his son loudly and sent him away, but when his anger subsided after a while, he went to his son. He saw that his son was sleeping deeply and he had a copy of his homework in his hand.  As soon as he took the copy and tried to put it down, his eyes fell on the title of the homework.

The title of the homework was.....Things that we do not like in the beginning, but later they are good.

The child had to write a paragraph on this title, which he had already written. Out of curiosity, he started reading what the child had written. The child had written...

I am very thankful to my final exams because they do not seem good at all in the beginning but after them there are school holidays.

I am very thankful to the bitter medicines that taste bad because they seem bitter in the beginning but they cure me from my illness.

I am very thankful to the alarm clock that wakes me up in the morning and tells me every morning that I am alive.

I am also thankful to God who gave me such a good father because his scolding makes me feel very bad in the beginning but he brings toys for me, takes me for outings and feeds me good things and I am happy that I have a father because my friend Raju's father is not in this world.

After reading the child's homework, it was as if that person had suddenly woken up from sleep. His thinking changed. The things written by the child were going around in his mind again and again. Especially that last line. He had lost his sleep. Then that person sat down a little calmly and started thinking about his problems...

I have to bear all the expenses of the house, which means that I have a house and by the grace of God I am in a better position than those who do not have a house.

I have to bear the responsibility of the whole family, which means that I have a family, wife and children and by the grace of God I am luckier than those who do not have a family and are all alone in the world.

Some friend or relative keeps coming to my place, it means that I have a social status and I have people who support me in my happiness and sorrow.

I spend a lot, it means that I have a good job and I am better than those who are unemployed or are deprived of many things and facilities due to lack of money.

Oh! My God! Thank you very much, forgive me, I could not recognize your grace.

After this, his thinking changed suddenly, all his problems, all his worries seemed to have ended suddenly. He changed completely. He ran to his son and took his sleeping son in his lap and started kissing his forehead and started thanking his son and God.

Friends...whatever problems we are facing, as long as we continue to look at them from a negative perspective, we will remain surrounded by serious problems, but as soon as we look at the same things, the same situations from a positive perspective, our thinking will change completely, all our worries, all problems, all tensions will end suddenly and we will start seeing new ways to get out of the problems..!
