There have been many women in history who are known for their bravery. One such woman was Lyudmila Pavlichenko, whose name you may not have heard. This woman's name is recorded in history. This woman is considered to be the most dangerous female shooter (sniper) in history. A shooter who gave a tough time to the Nazi army of German dictator Hitler. This woman is also known as the 'hero' of the Soviet Union.
The name of this female shooter is Lyudmila Pavlichenko. Lyudmila was an excellent sniper in the Soviet Union's Red Army during the Second World War, that too when women were not kept in the army. But Lyudmila earned fame not only in the Soviet Union but all over the world with her skill.
It is said that at the age of just 25, Lyudmila killed a total of 309 people with her sniper rifle, most of whom were soldiers of Hitler's army. Ludmila was also nicknamed "Lady Death" because of her incredible ability with a sniper rifle.
Lyudmila, born on 12 July 1916 in a Ukrainian village, took up arms at the age of just 14. According to Henry Sakaida's book 'Heroines of the Soviet Union', Pavlichenko first worked in an arms factory, but later she became a sniper because of a boy.
According to media reports, during her visit to America, Ludmila once said, 'A boy living in my neighbourhood used to learn shooting and would keep boasting about it. At that very moment, I decided that if a boy can shoot, a girl can also do it. For this, I practiced hard.' The result of this practice was that in a few days, Ludmila became an expert in using weapons.
However, during the war in 1942, Lyudmila was badly injured, after which she was sent to the Russian capital Moscow. After recovering from her injury, she started training other Red Army marksmen and later she also became the spokesperson of the Red Army. After the war ended in 1945, she also worked at the headquarters of the Soviet Navy. She died in Moscow on 10 October 1974 at the age of 58.
