Every day we get to read and hear news of robbery and violence all over the world. Sometimes there is news of a bank robbery, sometimes of a shop robbery. But do you know about the biggest robbery in the world? This bank robbery is the most unique in the history because it directly involved the son of the president of the country where this robbery took place. You may not believe it, but it is absolutely true.
A total of one billion dollars were looted in this bank robbery. This incident is from Iraq, where such a huge amount was looted from the central bank. It has been 22 years since this incident. This incident took place in March 2003. The president of Iraq was Saddam Hussein and his enmity with America was well known. It is said that America had made full preparations to attack Iraq.
A few hours before that, Saddam Hussein's son Qusay reached the Iraqi Central Bank in Baghdad and handed a slip to the bank head, on which it was written that due to security reasons the President has ordered to move all the money in the bank to another safe place. Now, since Saddam Hussein was feared in Iraq at that time, as he was considered a dictator, therefore the bank head did not say anything and gave permission to take the money. Apart from this he had no other option.
It is said that Saddam Hussein's son Qusay had looted so much money from the Iraqi bank that it had to be carried in trucks. You will be surprised to know that it took about five hours to load the looted money into the trucks. It is also said that there was more money in the bank, but there was no space in the truck to keep it, so it was left there.
The news of this bank robbery spread across the world when, immediately after the incident, the US army started bombing Iraq. During this time, they also captured the Iraqi Central Bank, but there they found out that all the money had been taken away by Saddam Hussein's son Qusay. After this, a lot of investigation was done. Saddam Hussein's palace was also searched, where a huge sum of notes was found. However, those notes were not a part of the looted amount. That money had already been kept safely by Saddam Hussein's second son Uday, because keeping huge amounts of cash was his hobby.
It is said that raids were conducted at many other places in Iraq in which several hundred crores of rupees were recovered, but a major part of the bank loot was never found. It is believed that Saddam Hussein might have sent that money to Syria. Although, there is no concrete evidence for this. This bank robbery was the most special among all the other robberies because in this robbery not a single bullet was fired nor was there any fight with anyone. Everything happened very comfortably.
