Tenzing-Hillary Airport (Lukla), Nepal :- The Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Nepal, also known as Lukla Airport, is one of the most dangerous airports in the world. Located in the city of Lukla in the lap of the Himalayas, this airport is notorious for its challenging geographical location. Its runway is only 460 meters long, which is extremely short even for small aircraft. There are deep trenches on both sides of the runway, whose depth is about 600 meters. Due to this, pilots have to be extremely cautious while landing and taking off here.
Barra International Airport, Scotland :- Barra International Airport, located on the island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides Islands of Scotland, is known for its unique feature. It is the only airport in the world where the runway is located on the beach. This means that when the tide is high, the runway is completely submerged in water. Due to this, planes can only land here at certain times, when the tide is low. This airport is located only 5 meters above sea level, making it common for the runway to be submerged in water during high tide. Pilots have to plan their flights keeping in mind the tide timing, which makes this airport even more challenging.
Male International Airport, Maldives :- The main international airport of the Maldives, also known as Velana International Airport, is located at a height of only 2 meters above the sea level. The airport is located on Hulhule Island and is made entirely of tar. Its low altitude makes it extremely difficult for pilots to land and take off planes. Being surrounded by water on all sides, wind conditions can also be unpredictable during landing and take-off, which is an additional challenge for pilots.
Paro Airport, Bhutan :- Bhutan is famous for its natural beauty and high mountains. The Paro Airport located here is considered one of the most challenging airports in the world. This airport is located in a deep valley between the high peaks of the Himalayas. Being surrounded by high mountains on all sides, it is extremely difficult for planes to land and take off here. Pilots are given special training to land here, as they have to fly through narrow valleys and pass over houses.
