Hum is formally listed as the smallest town in the world with 30 (2011 census) inhabitants. It is located in the center of the Istria region, near the town of Buzet, which is known as the "city of truffles". This town which is only 100 meters long and 30 meters wide holds so much history.
According to legend, Hum was created by accident when the giants did not have much stone left over while building cities in the valley of the Mirna River, so they decided to build this miniature city.
The history of the town begins in the early medieval era and it was first mentioned in 12th century documents under the name of Cholm.
