Once a painter came to meet Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon Bonaparte did not respect that painter by seeing him wearing dirty clothes. Napoleon Bonaparte ordered the painter to sit away.
After some time Napoleon Bonaparte urged the painter to make a portrait of himself. Napoleon Bonaparte was surprised to see a painting made by that painter.
After some time, when that painter got up and left, Napoleon Bonaparte got up and shook hands with that painter. After this, Napoleon Bonaparte went to leave the painter to the door. The painter was surprised to receive such respect.
So the painter asked Napoleon Bonaparte in fear, "When I came here, you made me sit apart and now I am leaving, you shook hands with me and left me to the door. Why?"

Napoleon Bonaparte smiled at the painter and said to the painter, "When a person comes here, he is honored by looking at his dress and when someone goes from here, his qualities are recognized and respected. That's why I did it. " The painter was surprised to hear this answer from Napoleon Bonaparte.
The meaning of saying that a person does not become great by his dress and his beauty but by his qualities.
