Patience

A person has been struggling for thirty years, failing. In his childhood, he used to cut wood and sell those chopped wood in the market and make his living.

He used to walk fifteen miles away from home and bring books and read those books in the light of fire. He used to sit at his shop for hours and practice speech art again and again. Despite being in such a poor condition, he passed the law.

He used to wear a very simple dress to go to court debate. He never cared for the sarcasm of his coworkers. He never took any false cases in his life.

In the year 1831, he started business in which he lost a lot. He then stood for election to the assembly in 1832 but lost in this election. In 1833 he resumed trading but suffered greatly in business. In 1834, he again contested the assembly elections and lost. His wife died in 1835 and in 1836 he suffered from mental imbalance.

In 1838 he contested the speaker and lost. In 1846 he contested for the post of Land Officer and lost. In 1856, he stood for the post of Vice President and was defeated in that also.  Standed in the Senate in 1858 and lost.

He never lost courage in spite of such failures and in 1860 stood as a presidential contender with all his energy. This time he broke the chain of failures. He won this election. This person was none other than the US President Abraham Lincoln.

The meaning of saying is keep battling with troubles but never be idle because even in difficulties, people who have patience and courage can overcome even the greatest difficulty.
