One day a plant vendor came to the colony. The seller of that plant had a variety of beautiful flowering plants. Nandita and the elderly man bought each plant from that planter.
Nandita and the elderly man put the plant well in their beds.
Nandita knew little about gardening. So she took good care of that plant. She used to water the plant three times a day. Apart from this, fertilizer and pesticides were also given to the plant from time to time. Nandita took very good care of her plant.
On the other hand, elderly men used to give water to that plant once a day. Apart from this, elderly men used to give fertilizers and pesticides at the plant only occasionally.
Because of all this, Nandita's plant was more beautiful and good than the old man's plant. Nandita was very happy to see all this and felt proud.
One day a very strong thunderstorm occurred at night. The next morning, when both Nandita and the elderly man came out of the house together and saw their plants. Nandita found that her plant was uprooted by the storm.
Nandita was very sad to see this and asked the elderly person that I used to take care of my plant more than you, giving water on time, fertilizing, but in spite of that my plant was uprooted but your plant suffered the brunt of this nature. How did this happen?
The elderly man said to Nandita, 'You gave the plant plenty of water, manure and pesticides. It was so abundant that the plant did not have to make any kind of struggle for itself. You sprayed the insecticide in that plant, due to which the resistance of that plant was not so much developed. Whereas I gave the plant as much as it could survive and the rest of the struggle and effort should be done by the plant itself and these struggles made my plant strong.
In today's era, the same thing applies to children's upbringing as well. In today's age, parents take care of their children just like that plant so much that children are not able to become strong from inside and they are not able to withstand it when they face difficulties.
Therefore, the meaning of saying that is to take care of the children as much as is needed. Children are not able to cope with difficulty due to excessive care. Because it is said that extreme is bad.
