Two Buckets

There lived a farmer in a village. That farmer used to get up every morning to fetch water from a distant waterfall.  He used to take two buckets with him to fetch water.  He carried those buckets tied with a pole and hung them on his shoulder.

In one of those two buckets, there was a hole in the bucket, due to which, when the farmer reached home, he had only one and a half buckets of water left.  She was very proud of the right bucket, she felt that there is no shortage in it because she carries all the water home.

On the other hand, the broken bucket was very sad because it was able to reach half the water home.  Due to this, the hard work of the farmer goes waste.  The broken bucket started getting very upset about this.

Once upon a time.  The broken bucket became very sad and decided that she would apologize to the farmer for this.

So the broken bucket said to the farmer, "I am very sorry for myself and I want to apologize."

The farmer asked the broken bucket, 'What are you sad about and why are you apologizing.'

The broken bucket sadly told the farmer that for the last two years, only half of the water I had to bring to the house could reach home.  This is a big deficiency in me, due to which your hard work has been wasted.

The farmer was very sad to hear this broken bucket and said that it is not right to be so upset.  Let's overcome your sadness.

Instead of grieving over your dripping water while returning back with water tomorrow, seeing the flowers blooming on the road which is very beautiful and fragrant.

Bucket decided to obey the farmer and saw those beautiful flowers on the way.  Due to this, his sadness decreased slightly.  But on reaching home, half of the water had fallen from that bucket again.  The broken bucket became sad again and apologized to the farmer.

The farmer said to the broken bucket, 'Perhaps you did not notice on the way, all the beautiful blooming flowers were on your side, there was not a single flower on the right bucket.'  The farmer said ahead of the broken bucket, 'You know why this happened?  Because I always knew this weakness of yours.  So I took advantage of this weakness of yours and I sowed the seeds of colorful flowering plants on your side.  You kept irrigating those flowers little by little and made this path so beautiful.  Today, because of you, I am able to offer these flowers to God and make my house beautiful.  Think of yourself and tell me what you are like today, if you had not been like this, would I have done this?

The meaning of this story is that just like that farmer, we should accept what he is and pay attention to his goodness.  Because every person has some deficiency which makes him unique from others.  Therefore, attention should be paid to the goodness of that person.
