Opportunity

once upon a time. Two fishermen went to the riverbank to catch fish. Both were very excited, as both fishermen wanted to catch fish as quickly as possible. So the two fishermen threw a fork in the river together and waited for the fish to get trapped.

The two fishermen looked at each other and again laid eyes on the river, waiting for the fish to get trapped.

After a while a big fish got stuck in the first fisherman's fork. The first fisherman was very happy to see this and expressed his happiness by looking at the second fisherman. After this, the first fisherman kept that big fish in the box kept near him.

After this, the first fisherman again threw a fork into the river. After some time, many small fish got caught in that first fisherman's fork. Seeing all this, the first fisherman was very happy. The first fisherman kept all those small fish in the box in which the big fish was kept.

But not a single fish has been caught in the second fisherman's fork yet. Seeing all this, the first fisherman said to the second fisherman, 'Let me give you some help.' But the second fisherman refused.

After some time a big fish also got caught in the second fisherman's fork.  The second fisherman kept looking at the trapped fish and then threw it again into the river.

Seeing all this, the first fisherman was surprised. But he did not say anything to the other fisherman. Many fish were caught in the fork of another fisherman as soon as he saw it. But the other fisherman would watch the trapped fish carefully and throw them into the river again.  The second fisherman kept repeating this work many times.

All this was not seen by the  first fisherman  and he asked the other fisherman, 'When the fish are getting stuck in your fork, why are you throwing them back into the river and why are you wasting your time?'

Hearing this, the second fisherman said, 'All those fish were big and I don't have such a big pot that I can cook them easily. So I am throwing them into the river.  I am looking for a small fish that comes easily into my vessel so that it can easily cook.

Hearing the answer of the second fisherman, the first fisherman laughed and said, friend - if you do not have a big vessel, you can also cook big fish by cutting it.

The meaning of the saying is that most of us, like that other fisherman, stumble upon small opportunities on the way to achieve our goal which is very wrong.  Therefore, we should accept all the small opportunities that we get in our life, because these small opportunities help us to achieve our big goals later in life.
