One day the swordsman father said to Matajuro, 'You can never learn fencing. Hence from tomorrow you go to grazing goats in the forest. '
The next day Matajuro went into the forest. There Matjuro found another swordsman, named Banjo. Matajuro requested Banjo to make him his disciple.
After this, Matajuro asked Banjo, 'How long will it take me to become a good swordsman?' Banjo said it would take about ten years.
Hearing this, Matajuro was disappointed with Banjo and said, 'I don't have much time. Can't you teach me fencing too soon?'
Banjo said,'Then it will take you thirty years to learn fencing. On hearing this, Matajuro became completely frustrated. Matajuro said, 'Thirty years is too much. I cannot devote so much time to fencing. '
Banjo said firmly, 'Then it will take you seventy years. Matajuro understood that there is no benefit from arguing more. Matajuro lives with Banjo in the forest and learns fencing.
One day, Matajuro was sitting under the tree. Then suddenly Banjo attacked him from behind with a wooden sword. Matajuro suffered a slight injury. But soon he became careful. Banjo attacked Matajuro again at night.
Now Matajuro always started to be careful, because the attack could happen at any time. The series of attacks continued in this manner and Matajuro spent entire time in fencing to avoid them. Similarly five months passed.
One day Banjo suddenly attacks Matajuro with his sword. Matajuro survived every attack. Matajuro gave a tough fight to Banjo and won.
Saying it means that one's own ability is revealed only in the face of difficulties.
